The Rabari Jacket is part of Tilla’s 7 Indian Trees collection of silk-cotton garments that are light, layered and textured. Classic shapes and finely crafted details define the aesthetic of the line.
The shape of the jacket is inspired by the kediyo worn by the herdsmen of the Rabari community of Kutch (India).
The outer fabric, which combines a silk warp and cotton weft, comes from Chanderi (India) a town famous for the quality and fineness of its fabrics.
Tilla’s designer, Aratrik Dev Varman, developed the prints for the collection from photographs taken on his travels across India. The leaves on the jacket are those of the flamboyant tree (Delonix regia). Its bright flowers herald the arrival of the fiery summer heat, while its dense foliage offers a welcome shady shelter. Also available in this range are the Peasant Tunic, silk scarves, cushions, throws, table runners, serviettes and cards.
