PABI CLUTCH BAG
Clutch bag decorated all over with ribbons, braid, trimmings and rickrack.
The clutch bag is the most versatile of the Pabi range. For example, by attaching a strap to the loops at either end it becomes a shoulder bag.
It has a zip closure and is lined in plain black cotton.
The origin of these colourful bags, designed by Pabiben, lies in a ban on embroidery imposed by the elders of the Dhebaria Rabari community (Kutch, India) on their women in 1995. These were deemed to be spending too long decorating their dowry pieces, resulting in marriages being delayed by years.
In response the women evolved a different form of decoration, consistent with the Dhebaria aesthetic, but using ribbons, trimmings and rickrack.
